His knowledge is vast and deep. Everything he says is based on his life experiences, training, and research. If you are only going to buy just one book in this genre, this is the one you must have available. As a firearms instructor since 1972, I feel Col Ben is up there with Jeff Cooper and others like them.

Superb book on Handguns. Informative. Detailed. Practical. Balanced. And a pleasure to read! The author covers every conceivable facet of handguns, from acquisition, to fundamental shooting techniques, to safe concealed carrying. Highly recommend!

Excellent book for anyone interested in expanding their knowledge regarding personal defensive use with a handgun, for home defense and particularly concealed carry. Col. Ben book is an excellent resource that the reader can use again and again. Keep a copy in your range bag for tips and drills. Thanks for writing such a valuable book for all freedom loving people!

Bought three books on this subject but this one is definitely the best of the three. Tons of information, research studies, and very well written and interesting. I don’t get bored reading this book and learning a lot.

I received this book when I attended Col Ben's concealed carry class. It contains detailed information that everyone who owns a firearm should read. Particularly liked the section on the legal considerations & use of deadly force.

Recently I decided to purchase a handgun for personal defense. We had a home invasion and double murder here in our Del Webb retirement community in Surprise, AZ. My wife and I also do some wilderness camping where it's nice to have protection. With very little knowledge, I wanted a book that would cover the many questions I had about guns and personal defense. This is the book. It covers everything, and I mean everything. From which gun to consider, how to use it, mindset and legal considerations. Also, many areas that I had not even thought about before. If you are like me, and want to have a comprehensive and easy to read book on handguns and self defense, buy this book. I want to add, that after reading the author's bio, this man is credible and has no agenda, other than to inform and help educate people. I can also see that his would be a great book, not only for novices, but for gun enthusiasts as well. It covers not only the questions than I had but questions that I had not thought of. I have the Kindle edition which works great for this book.

Our right to gun ownership carries with it great responsibility and with it a mandate to be knowledgeable, proficient and prudent. Col Ben's book "Concealed Carry & Handgun Essentials" provides a wealth of knowledge, tools and guidance from the decision to carry through the selection of a personal firearm for protection to the development of exceptional skills and practices for a lifetime of enjoyment and security. I received this book as a gift (a greatly appreciated gift!) and have purchased the Kindle version so it's immense resources are available to me at all times. As a novice hand gun owner I have found my knowledge and abilities rapidly increase using the vast tips and tools provided in this "must have" book for those new to handgun ownership or those well experienced.

I have been a pistol owner for many years and have had my concealed carry permit for almost as many. Colonel Findley's book is THE BEST reference source I have seen for concealed carry and a great refresher on the basics of utilizing a handgun for self and home defense. I highly recommend this book. I just wish I could get down to Florida to take some classes from Colonel Findley !!! Job well done sir.

Col Ben Findley taught my "Basics of Pistol Shooting" Phase 2 class, which included a copy of his "Concealed Carry & Handgun Essentials for Personal Protection." I knew from the passion and expertise he showed in his class that seeing his instruction in print would further help me develop my mental "muscle memory." I opened his book the evening following his day's worth of instruction (including time on the range) and was, forgive the pun, blown away! His book is a treasure trove of instruction on the subject. It's 262 pages but it's in 9-pt font, so that's more like 350 pages in typical font sizes, and it includes 57 chapters (topics), a bunch of photos along the way, tables, and technical drawings to help the reader really understand the material...its a superb reference book written by an expert, but "spoken" by someone who becomes a friend as you read along...get a copy, you'll see what I mean.
It would not surprise me if Col Ben's book is unparalleled in the industry as a reference book for both the novice and the experienced pistol owner. If you're new to handling a pistol or a veteran, you'll be glad to have his book on your table next to your gun safe! Get it. Read the sections you don't know. Read the sections you need to bone up on. Enjoy! (BTW, I'm buying a copy and sending it to my oldest son who received his pistol training from a major metropolitan police academy then from the U.S. Border Patrol. I want this book next to his pistol safe!)

While searching for reviews of the hand gun I was hoping to purchase I ran into Col. Ben's pistol review of the hand gun that I eventually purchased. It was a positive review but I had a couple of questions and sent him an email. In response to those questions he mentioned his new book and I purchased it from his lovely wife Karen who shipped it to me quickly. I have read many publications on the subject of concealed carry but his book is by far the best and I would recommend it to every person that is considering a CCW. I was so impressed with the book that I booked a CC course with Col. Ben and Karen. I traveled over 500 miles and three nights in a motel room for the experience and it was just that, a great experience and in my opinion, the level of instruction should be delivered across the board in ALL US territories so every person gets this level of instruction consistently. The decision to carry a concealed weapon is very serious and the level of instruction can be the difference between life and death. Don't make the wrong decision!!!! Get quality instruction and if you can, send Col. Ben an email and book his class. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Ok. First let me say. EVERYONE should read this. At least Once. Expierenced or not. If this had been available when I was getting training. I could have saved so many hours and thousands of dollars spent on other training.
This book covers so many important points on Concealed carry. Among those are safety , many different sighting technique options, when you should consider using them or not. And the basic considerations for choosing the right pistol for you. The author gives you all the information you will need to make educated decisions. Even if you already know what you are doing, this book has helpful information you will be glad to know.
How to carry, where to carry (placement), why the options are preferred by others. He points out specific points to look for and use when selecting your holsters, pistol , caliber data and why it should be considered, barrel lengths and benefits . And the list continues on from there. He is so easy to understand that I will use this teaching my kids about concealed carry. There's just so much useful information here, I can't remember any other (single) publication providing this level of quality information. If you only get one book about concealed Carry, It should be this one. I'd say I look forward to the next edition, but I can't imagine what he would write. It's ALL in This book.

If you're involved with firearms and especially if you're considering or currently using conceal carry, you need to read this book. It's one of the most well rounded and informative instruction manuals and lots of sage advice I've ever read. Got it only a few days ago and just finished it but there are so many areas such as gun selection, training routines that I want to go back and reread. There are explanations about items I wasn't even aware of and I've been shooting for 50 years. Col Ben is the real deal, he doesn't try to tell you what to buy or the best answer to a solution but he gives you all the options that you will need to make your own decision. Anyone with a conceal carry license should keep a copy of this near their firearms.

You have to ask yourself "what is it that I don't know" ? If you know what it is that you don't know then you understand that you don't know what Deadly Force really means or you don't really know what the correct mindset is. How about selecting the right holster or the most common concealed carry mistakes that could make you the criminal? If you could spend the time face to face with someone who has the answers then you would beg to do so. But you can't but you can do the next best thing. You can study and learn from the magnitude of Col Findleys depth of practical knowledge from the common sense of it all to the legal traps to the wisdom of how to do it right and even the help to select the best path forward. Why wouldn't you want to listen to a man who actually test handguns for manufacturers ? Of course you would. I love the book and consider it one of my valued "bibles" in my library.

I am so jazzed about this book “Concealed Carry and Handgun Essentials for Personal Protection”! And it is not only about CC, but also perfect for beginners on the “essentials” of handguns – period! I bought 25 of these books for our Annie Oak-Tree Ladies shooting group @ Oak Tree Gun Club in Southern California. I read a chapter from the book named “Clip or Magazine – Does it Matter?” on USACARRY.com a few weeks ago and was impressed with its simplicity yet thoroughness at the same time – and knew I had to buy copies of the entire book to share with my fellow female shooters!
I’ve referenced through it a few times and can easily comprehend everything that I’ve read. And the questions at the end of some of the chapters asking “us” what we think make great discussion topics. I go onto the various gun forums sometimes and the people get so technical I feel like I need an Engineering degree to understand – and that takes all of the fun out of it! Kudos to Col Ben Findley for writing a book that’s concise, thorough, yet easy to follow and do.
I highly recommend it for all levels of shooting experience!

Really great book for the beginner to the expert ! Col Ben really put together a great book and covers everything you'd ever need or want to know about concealed carry, personal protection, safety, legal considerations, etc., and much, much, more. This is a book every gun owner needs. I've been a gun owner for over 65 years since my Dad bought me my first B.B. gun at age 5 and I'm amazed with this book and the many things I've learned from reading this book. Thanks Col Ben !
